A Carlisle man was arrested Friday after authorities said he assaulted a woman and stole her prescription medication. Michael Shoemaker, 40, is charged with robbery, simple assault, possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia.
Investigators said Shoemaker hit the 32-year-old woman in the back of the head as he attempted to steal her prescription pills on March 6. When the victim resisted, Shoemaker grabbed the woman by the neck and pushed her against a wall before taking off with her medication, police said.
Shoemaker was arrested the following day and taken to Cumberland County Prison in lieu of $50,000.
