The USA lost to Canada in men’s and women’s ice hockey at the Sochi Winter Olympics.   Under the dome at Spooky Nook in Lancaster County, the United States dominated Canada in field hockey Monday Night 7-0.    Penn Manor’s Jill Witmer scored two goals for the U.S. National Squad.   The game was the first in a four-game series between the countries.   All of the exhibitions will take place at the home of USA Field Hockey, the Spooky Nook Sports Facility.    USA Field Hockey is in the process of selecting their team.   According to their coach Craig Parnham,  there’s no better place to find talent than Central Pennsylvania.

“I think you see it the world over in Sports,” Parnham explained.  “You get hotbeds of communities with success.  Success breeds success.  This has been an area that has consistently churned out good hockey players so that just becomes part of a culture.”

Donegal grad Laura Gebhart played in her first game with the U.S. team.   USA and Canada will play at Spooky Nook Tuesday, Thursday and Friday with all games beginning at 6pm.
