Wind gusts is the apparent cause of roof damage and a propane gas leak at a Weis Market in Lancaster County. It happened at about 2 o’clock this afternoon at the Weis on Stoney Battery Road in West Hempfield Township.
A Weis spokesperson said high winds caused minor damage to the roof of the building. That roof damage in turn caused a leak in a propane gas line. The store was evacuated as a precaution. Repairs began immediately on the roof and the gas line. The air inside the store has also been tested and is considered safe.
The store reopened at 4:20 pm this afternoon.
