There’s a couple in Washington Borough, Lancaster County that are in inspiration to married couples everywhere. Everette and Jean Brown celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary on Friday at the Brereton Manor Guest Home. Roughly 30 friends and family joined them as Everett sang songs.
The couple first met at a bingo game in 1942 and 3 months later they were married. Everette said that being friends first is the key to a successful marriage. “I liked her, I liked her very much, but I learned to love her after we had been married for awhile. So if young lovers would take that advice I think it would work out better for them.”
Everette said quality time is key. In their younger days they spent many years traveling together around the country in an RV. They’re also proud parents of a daughter named Ann and a grandson named Tod.
