A Carlisle man driving while DUI in a fatal crash earlier this month is charged with Homicide by Vehicle. It  happened on March 1 at around 11:38 pm in the first block of Lebo Road in Penn Township, Cumberland County.

Pennsylvania State Police say Corey Chestnut, 38, was speeding north on Lebo Road, when he lost control of his vehicle. a 2000 Dodge Dakota SUV, on a curve.  The SUV slammed into a tree impacting the area of the rear passenger seat.  Rear seat passenger Jeannette Griffith, 34, of Carlisle, was killed at the scene. A passenger in the front seat, Rebecca Shearer, 34, of Carlisle, suffered major injuries. She had to be extracted from the wreckage before being flown to Hershey Medical Center.  Chester only had minor injuries.  No one in the SUV were in seatbelts.

An arrest warrant for Chestnut was executed today. Charges include Homicide By Motor Vehicle while DUI, Aggravated Assault by Motor Vehicle while DUI, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, DUI, Reckless Driving, Careless Driving, Speeding, Open Containers and not wearing a seatbelt.

Following arraignment Chestnut was sent to Cumberland County Prison in lieu of $75,000 bail.
