(YORK CITY)–Getting a parking ticket is frustrating enough–especially when you didn’t do anything wrong. But that’s exactly what happened in York City this weekend–after people started to complain about receiving erroneous street sweeping tickets.

In certain sections of the city, street sweeping is scheduled on the third Saturday of every month. Turns out, March 22 was actually the fourth Saturday of the month and residents were ticketed.

In a statement issued Monday–Mayor Kim Bracey said the ticketing was done in error and have been voided.

“We are sorry for the inconvenience caused and have put measures in place to make sure this does not happen again,” said Mayor Bracey.

People who live in the affected areas should  receive a letter in the mail explaining the incident. Mayor Bracey says residents do not need contact the York City Parking Bureau.
