A Lebanon man was arrested Wednesday after police caught him carrying a gun and several bags of heroin.

Police are charging Jamar Edmonds, 28, with illegal possession of a firearm, carrying a firearm without a license, possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.

Police responded to the first block of North 12th street for a report of a man with a gun. They received information that an argument occurred and a man had pulled a gun out, pointed it at another person before running away.

Officers located Edmonds in the area of Van Buren and Uhler Streets attempting to break into a vehicle. Edmonds tried to run when he seen police but was caught in the area of Decatur and Murray streets, police said.

Police found the gun on Edmonds along with several bags of heroin and cash. Further investigation determined that the argument Edmonds was involved in was over a family matter.

No one was injured during the argument.

Edmonds is currently in Lebanon County Prison with a $100,000 bail.
