An 11-year old girl is dead and five people are injured, after a two-vehicle crash in Earl Township, Lancaster County.

New Holland Police arrived at the 600 block of North Railroad Avenue just before 7:30 p.m. Sunday, where two vehicles, a Nissan and a Kia collided.

The Nissan Sedan, driven by 47-year-old Joseph Kuhns of Quarryville, was traveling north when he lost control due to icy road conditions. The Nissan went off the road, swerved back onto the road on its side before slamming into the Kia SUV driven by 70-year-old Ronald Gardiner of Ephrata.

Several people were trapped and had to be rescued by Garden Spot Fire Rescue.

All six passengers, from both cars, were taken to Lancaster General Hospital.

The condition of the passengers in the Nissan are as follows: Joseph Kuhns is in serious condition, front seat passenger, Rose Ann Kuhns, 40, is in critical condition, a 14-year old female rear passenger, is in critical condition and 11-year-old female, also a rear passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Kia was carrying two people, Gardiner and a 45-year-old male, are both listed in stable condition.

The crash is still being investigated by New Holland Police.
