Six firefighters were on-board when a fire truck rolled onto its side Saturday in Hellam Township, fire officials said. All six firefighters were treated and released from a local hospital.

The accident took place along Yorkana Road near Valley Acres Road around 6 p.m.

The Hellam Township fire truck was en route to the scene of a crash on Yorkana Road at Libhart Mill Road when engine rolled onto its side, said Friendship Fire Chief Eric Strittmatter.

The fire truck has been taken out of service pending repairs. No damage estimate was immediately available. The engine is covered under the department’s insurance policy, said Strittmatter.

Hellam Township Police are handling the investigation.
