A Lancaster City man faces multiple charges following an early morning bar fight. Officers responded to a call just after midnight this morning to a fight in progress at Rumplebrewskins in the 800 block of North Plum Street.  A bar patron, later identified as Jason Bissell, 33, had become unruly and was harassing female patrons.

When told by others to stop, Bissell, allegedly produced a handgun and threatened the bar patrons. Employees and bar patrons managed to subdue Bissell until police arrived. When officers attempted to take Bissell into custody, he would not comply and resisted. While laying on his stomach, Bissell kept his hands under his body and reached toward his waist. Officer believed he was reaching for a weapon.

Officers eventually were able to handcuff Bissell. As they stood him up, they saw that he had been on top of a six inch folding knife. While standing in handcuffs, Bissell kicked an officer on her leg.

Officers searched Bissell for more weapons prior to him being placed in a police vehicle. They found three more knives and a box of 9mm ammunition. He was taken to a local for treatment of minor injuries.

Officers learned from witnesses that Bissell’s handgun had been taken away from him prior to the arrival of polie. The gun was Sig-Sauer 9mm semi-automatic. Bissell had a valid permit to carry a concealed firearm. He also had in his possession magazines and a box of ammunition totalling 100 rounds.

Charges against Bissell include Aggravated Assault, Recklessly Endangering Another Person and Public Drunkenness.  He was sent to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $40,000 bail.
