The owner of a home in Fairview Township, York County attempted to bring a man to safety in a fatal fire.
The fire on Pleasant View Road happened around 10:00 a.m. Wednesday.
Fairview Township fire officials say the fire was contained to the upstairs bedroom. There was minimal damage to the outside. Officials say the owner of the home was on the roof with a garden hose when crews arrived. They say he helped contain the fire. Crews quickly put out smoke from the upstairs bedroom.
Authorities say a person in the bedroom died in the fire before crews arrived on the scene.
Fairview Township Lieutenant, Bill Carlisle, says he’s not sure how the fire started. Fire officials are investigating the death as a possible suicide.
