Visaggio’s is a restaurant spanning more than three decades in Cumberland County. But a fire destroyed much of the building last November. On Wednesday, its owners broke ground to rebuild.
William and Rosemary Lomadue said they didn’t know if they could start over, but the outpouring of support from the community gave them the strength. It’s a family business that now spans three generations.
Construction is set to begin Thursday, and will begin with the roof. It’s expected to take five months. The family hopes to be back in business in November and they booked their first wedding for next year.
“34 years ago he bought me my dream,” Rosemary Lomadue says of her husband. “And this is it, and I never expected the fire… so I can’t give her up, I won’t, and all I want to do is die stirring my sauce at Visaggio’s.”
