Burglar tased after attempting to flee from police on mountain bike in Steelton

A man is facing charges after he assaulted a police officer as he attempted to flee the scene of a burglary in Steelton on Saturday, investigators said.

Brettlee McCraw, 31, is charged with burglary, aggravated assault and possessing an instrument of crime.

According to police reports, officers were called to a home along the 200 block of Lincoln Street around 1:13 a.m. for a burglary report. While police were en route–McCraw attempted to flee the scene on a mountain bike, authorities said.

A brief chase ensued and McCraw was taken into custody near Ridge and Bailey Streets. Police said they had to taser McCraw because he became combative.

McCraw was taken to Dauphin County Prison in lieu of $50,000.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 15.
