A Ephrata woman accused of stealing a minivan showed up to a court hearing Friday on unrelated charges and kicked a police officer, investigators said.

Amanda Becker, 20, is charged with aggravated assault and theft by unlawful taking.

According to police reports, Becker was staying at a friend’s house on Thursday night when she stole her friend’s father’s minivan.

Several hours later Becker showed up to a court hearing at Magisterial District Judge Tony Russell’s office to answer to unrelated charges. When Becker couldn’t post bail set on the prior charges–she became agitated and kicked a police officer while being taken into custody, police said.

Becker was subsequently questioned about the vehicle theft and admitted to stealing the minivan, investigators said.

She was able to provide officers with the location of the stolen vehicle.

She was taken Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 15.
