West Shore Regional Police charge a Silver Township man with the weekend theft of metal fencing parts.  It happened at about 3:25 pm Sunday at a property in the 100 block of North 2nd Street in Wormleysburg Borough.

The suspect, later identified as Randy Lee Smith, 49, put about $500 worth of metal fencing parts that were piled up at the rear of the home into a blue and white pickup. Smith was confronted by the home owner and told to put the parts back instead Smith drove away with the items.

Police later found the stolen property at Smith’s home. It is believed that Smith had intended to scrap the metal for money.  Smith is charged with Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition.  Following arraignment he was sent to Cumberland County Prison in lieu of $500.00 bail and a parole violation.
