UPDATE: Missing girl found in Lancaster City

A missing girl from Chicago has been found safe in Lancaster City, according to police reports.

Sheralym Mercado, 15, was found Tuesday in the area of Franklin and Fulton Streets. Investigators said an alert citizen spotted the pair walking and and immediately called police.

Officers responded to the 800 block of E. Chestnut Street and took  Alexander Ramos-Pacheco, 24, of Lancaster, into custody. Mercado was found unharmed and taken to the police station.

Plans are being made to return the girl back to Chicago.

Charges are expected to be filed against Ramos-Pacheco. The investigation is ongoing.

Mercado was reported missing in Chicago on April 2. Police believe Ramos-Pacheco and the girl were involved in an online relationship.

    Federal issue since she is underage and he transported her across state lines.
