Tenants were forced out of their apartments Thursday because of thousands of pounds of sewage in the basement of the building. The building is on the 600 block of Willow Street.

One tenant was gathering her things Thursday night to go to a friend’s house to stay. She said city officials discovered the sewage was being pumped into a storm drain earlier in the day.

Condemned notices covered the doors of the building’s several ground-floor apartments. There’s no word on when they’ll be allowed back in.
