Saturday marked Global Youth Service Day and some students in York County kicked off the international event by helping a local family build their future home.
In a partnership with York Habitat for Humanity, students from Red Lion School District and community volunteers, began work at the Red Lion Community Build site on the 100 block of Schoolhouse Lane this morning. Over the next few weeks, volunteers will lay the foundation on which a home will be built for Ashley Moffitt and her 8-year-old daughter Shaelynn.
“We owe them our life. They have been so nice… wonderful people and it just shows that there’s still good left in the community that are willing to help a family and do all of this on their own time. Shaelynn: I’m excited for my room because it’s going to be pink and decorated with peace signs.” Ashley Moffit Future Habitat Homeowner
