PITTSBURGH:  Now that their investigation has ended, a western Pennsylvania police department is releasing details of an unusual sting, which saw one of their male officers go undercover as an Amish woman.

“Sometimes being a police officer means going under cover and doing what you have to do to catch the bad guy,” The Pulaski Township Police Dept. said in a post on their Facebook page, along with a photo of the officer in his disguise.

According to the police department the investigation began after a male suspect began preying on Amish children walking home from school in January. Police said the suspect would pull up to the children, get out of his car, and masturbate in front of them.

“Although we did not apprehend the individual we believe he was caught in another county,” police said. “We will use all means available to try and protect our children. That includes dressing up as an Amish woman to attempt to apprehend a pervert!”

The Amish who live in the community didn’t want their children to testify in court and agreed to lend the police women’s bonnets, aprons and dresses to catch or scare away the suspect.
