The York City Police Department is taking to Twitter to show people what it’s like to be a police officer. From 9 p.m. to midnight on Friday, April 17, Chief Wes Kahley will tweet out what’s happening and answer questions from the public.
It’s a Twitter “ride-along.” Officer of the Year Tiffany Vogel will be out on patrol, and the Chief will tweet what she’s doing – any calls she goes on or arrests she makes.

Vogel says most officers are not very familiar with Twitter but they see it as a new way to communicate.
“He’ll be letting everyone know what we’re doing what we’re encountering, if there’s any arrests made and answering questions,” Vogel says of the Chief.
They’re also hoping it will be a new way to get crime tips from residents.
“They know their neighborhoods better than we’ll ever know them,” Vogel says. “And the information they share with us, that’s what makes us a good police department.”
