Dozens of fire fighters battle a stubborn brush fire in Lancaster County.  The Mountville Fire Company receive the first call at 4:20 pm Monday afternoon. The brush fire, actually six separate fires, extended from Spring Street in the borough about a half mile parallel to the railroad line to Centerville Road in West Hempfield Township.

The Mountville Fire Chief says the fireS covered about two acres.  The terrain with clumps of heavy timber made fighting the brush fires difficult. Fire crews were on the scene until about 9:30 Monday evening. The cause of the fires is under investigation by the state Department of Conservation.
