A Crime Stoppers tip leads to the arrest of a Lancaster City man suspected of two separate burglaries at the Kmart on South State Street in Ephrata Township.  Ephrata Borough Police began their investigation last year after the first burglary in the early morning hours of June 3, 2013. In that burglary the suspect forcefully entered the store and stole numerous items of jewelry.  The second burglary happened in the early morning hours on March 25, 2014.  Again the suspect forcefully entered the store and again stole numerous items of jewelry. The total amount of jewelry stolen in the two burglaries is estimated to be approximately $71,000.00.

Investigators requested help from the public on the case through Crime Stoppers. Acting on a tip, this morning, Ephrata Police assisted by Lancaster City and Lower Pottsgrove Police arrested Timothy J. Schittler, 23, who lived in the 500 block of North Plum Street.

Charges against Schittler include two counts of Burglary and two counts of Theft by Unlawful Taking. Following arraignment he was sent to Lancaster County Prison.
