Fire damages New Cumberland apartment building

Fire causes heavy damage to an apartment building in New Cumberland Borough. The fire broke out at about 4:15 pm Monday in the 500 block of Bridge Street. The first crews arrived on the scene to heavy smoke and flames pouring from the upper floors of the building.

The majority of the damage was contained to the 3rd floor and attic area. 5 adults and 2 children were displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross. One firefighter was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a minor injury.

A State Police Marshal was called to the scene. The cause of the fire is undetermined.
