VIRAL VIDEO: Teen’s emotional song about alcoholic father goes viral overnight

(KDVR) -A Minnesota teen is winning fans with an original, emotional song.

Molly Kate Kestner, a high school senior, blew up virtually overnight after posting a video of herself on Facebook.

The song, “His Daughter,” is about a girl who’s abandoned by an alcoholic father. Kestner’s posts music on her music quite often, but she said she had been saving this one for a while.

“Okay….So this is probably my favorite song I’ve ever written. I wrote it a year ago but I never posted it because I wanted to save it for my senior solo, but now that’s over…so I am FINALLY sharing it with the world,” Kestner wrote. “It’s called ‘His Daughter’ and it is a story. So I hope you are inspired as I was when I wrote this. Happy Easter:)”

The video has garnered more than 1.5 million views on YouTube in less than two weeks.

If I owned a music business I would sign this girl immediately to at least a single of this song… If she is 16 and has the mind to create this song she has the mind of an ARTIST, not just a singer. Overall vocals were ok, touch up here and there, but def better than many artists and she can write!!! I now understand why this song got huge so quick… Amazing job Molly Kate!!!
