North York machete attack stems from argument over rent

Northern York County Regional Police have one man in custody after they say he attacked and stabbed his roommate during an argument over rent.

Michael Bryant, 49 is facing charges after police say he pulled out a  14″ blade machete and attacked his roommate during the argument. The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of North Duke Street. As the heated argument continued Bryant struck the victim in the arm and neck.

When police arrived on scene they found the victim barricaded Bryant in the bathroom by holding the door shut. Bryant was immediately taken into custody.

The 36-year-old victim was transported to York Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Bryant and the victim both lived at the apartment with a third person, who was not injured.

Bryant is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment and harassment.

Police are still investigating.
