The Farmers Open Air Market returns to the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center today, providing area residents and visitors an opportunity to purchase locally grown food directly from producers.

The market will operate from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. every Tuesday and Friday until November. A variety of PA Preferred™ registered vendors will offer in-season fruits and vegetables, dairy products, bakery items, cut flowers and bedding plants.

“Food seems to taste better and plants seem to grow better when you meet the farmers who stand behind their products,” said Agriculture Secretary George Greig. “Consumers should purchase goods from a PA Preferred farmers market near them. Buying local helps support our state’s producers and businesses, while investing in local communities and keeping Pennsylvania growing.”

Whether shopping at farmers markets, farm stands or grocery stores, consumers should always look for the commonwealth’s official PA Preferred logo, recognizable as a gold checkmark in a blue keystone, to ensure they are choosing products made or grown in the state. For more information, visit www.papreferred.com.

The Farm Show’s outdoor farmers market is located just off North Cameron Street, along Industrial Drive, in the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center parking lot.
