The Harrisburg Public Schools Foundation honored three teachers with the first ever Teacher of the Year Award during the Mosaic Literacy Award Ceremony at John Harris High School Wednesday night.

Teacher of the Year award winners pictured seated in the front row were:

*Ms Stephanie Jackson, a second grade teacher at Downey School

*Mrs. Martha Rougeux, a 6th grade teacher at Rowland Middle School

*Ms Michelle Felton, a 9th grade teacher at Sci-Tech School

The teachers were nominated by students, parents and colleagues through an essay. Each of the teachers received a $1,000 grant award to be used in their classrooms donated by PNC Bank, Giant Foods and Highmark.

More than 200 students were also honored for their achievements in literature. Their writings included poetry, short stories and essays.
