A Dauphin County man is facing attempted homicide charges after police say he repeatedly hit a woman with a decorative statue. Cyrus Jackson, 35, was charged Sunday with criminal attempt homicide and aggravated assault.
Officers were called to Osteopathic Hospital on May 4 to take a report from a woman who had been brutally assaulted in Swatara Township. Authorities caught up with Jackson as he was trying to leave his home with a basket full of clothing, police said.
Investigators said Jackson was preparing to flee the state.
Jackson admitted to punching the victim and hitting her in the head multiple times with a decorative ceramic statue, police said.
He was taken to Dauphin County Prison in lieu of $500,000.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 9.
