A local boy scout earns his Eagle Scout by honoring his hometown heroes.
A new memorial was dedicated Saturday in Cumberland County to honor firefighters, fire police officers and emergency medical technicians who’ve been killed in the line of duty in the county.
The Line of Duty Death Memorial stands at the county’s Department of Public Safety in Middlesex Township.
The project was the idea of a local boy scout who wanted to do something special to earn the rank of Eagle Scout.
Caleb Holley, who organized the event says, “My family gave me a kick in the butt to get moving, friends helped support the project and a lot of firefighters helped support the project also by buying bricks in the Buy-A-Brick Program.”
Caleb raised more than $16,000 in cash for the project and even more donations in goods and supplies. He also designed the memorial. Caleb received his Eagle Scout on March 8th.
