Lori Kelley was driving to work in Lancaster on Mothers Day when something caught her eye. “I saw this little black furry thing bouncing in the road” said Kelley. That thing turned out to be a kitten, which had been thrown from a moving car. “She was just close enough to me that I thought it was a kitten, but just far enough away that I wasn’t sure and I panicked and threw my car into park” said Kelley.

That’s when she noticed another kitten down the road. She immediately scooped them both up and brought them to the Pet Pantry, a non-profit she works at that provides food and shelter for local animals. One of the kittens is named Karma, the other named Kismit. Both are just 4 weeks old and will be ready for adoption in about 3 months. They’re still very fragile and have been surviving on a diet of chicken and gravy Gerber baby food and replacement kitty milk.

As for who did it, there’s no suspect or vehicle description in connection with the incident, which happened on South Tree Road. All that’s left are 2 very lucky kittens. “She came very close to being hit by a car and probably me too unfortunately and it might not have been the smartest thing for me to do, but I panicked and this is just what I do” said Kelley.

Both kittens will be taken care of for the next few months by Kelley. It’s safe to say they are in good hands. If you would like to help the Pet Pantry you can contact them by clicking here for their website.
