Arlington National Cemetery commemorates 150 years

arlingtonArlington National Cemetery marks its 150th year today.

There will be a wreath-laying ceremony on Private William Christman’s grave.

His was the first military burial at the cemetery on May 13, 1864.

The U.S. government bought the property, after the family of Confederate General Robert E. Lee lost the land in a property tax dispute.

Today more than 400,000 are buried there.
