Fire leaves Adams County family homeless

Fire destroys a home in Adams County. Fire crews responded to a call on Rocky Road in Menallen Township at around 12:45 pm this afternoon. The first crews on the scene reported  the home engulfed in heavy smoke and flames. The family was not at home when the fire started. It the Arendtsville Fire Company assisted by units from surrounding communities about 90 minutes to bring the fire under control.

The fire is believed have started in the attic. The fire left an adult and teenager homeless. The family’s dog, cat and snake were rescued. Another cat is missing.
