RECALL: Dehumidifiers recalled due to serious fire and burn hazards

An appliance maker is renewing its recall for more than two million dehumidifiers.

The consumer product safety commission announced the update Friday.

The dehumidifiers are made by Gree Electric Appliances of China.

They were initially recalled back in September because they can overheat and catch fire.

But the CPSC says people didn’t heed the warning and the reported incidents of overheating dehumidifiers had jumped 400 percent since then.

The recall includes many different sizes and brand names – including some GE, Kenmore and Frigidaire models.

The CPSC is urging people who own the recalled dehumidifiers to turn them off and unplug them immediately.

Owners should contact Gree for a refund.
