Lillian Abrantes lives along the 600 Block of Edison Street in York. She says she woke up to a neighbor, banging on her door early Saturday morning.

“I see all this water going all the way up here, and I`m seeing the car sinking and I’m like, ‘Oh my god,’ then I see the road right here lifting up,” Abrantes said.

Anabel Seda and her husband took video as crews pulled their neighbor’s car out of the sinkhole.

Neighbors say they jumped into action to help move the other cars parked along the road as quickly as possible

“If I would have waited another minute, that car would have been gone as well,” Seda said.

Residents were without water for about 12 hours as crews worked to repair the water main.

Neighbors say the sinkhole comes just days after the neighborhood received new sidewalks and asphalt.

“Then this happens? I think maybe we enjoyed it two days, and it’s gone,” Seda said.

But at the end of the day, neighbors say they’re just thankful no one got hurt.

“It could have happened while she was sitting in the car,” Seda said. “We are just thankful that she was not there. It was just a car; something that can be replaced.”
