PHOENIX -An Arizona man is arrested after he allegedly threw his 23-month-old daughter into a swimming pool. Corey McCarthy told police he wanted to teach the child a lesson about play around water after she dropped a 5-week-old puppy in the pool and it drown.

“I am very angry and I’m very hurt and I just hope that my kids are going to be OK from this,” said the toddler’s mother, Samantha. “People make mistakes, but this is past a poor decision and a mistake. This is a child.”

McCarthy has been charged with child abuse because police say that discipline must be considered reasonable and not done in anger.

Family member tell 3TV McCarthy is still in jail and has been put in the infirmary after he was attacked by other inmates.
