Authorities say a Grantville man crashed into a front porch a home as he was trying to flee the scene of a failed robbery attempt at a Dauphin County hotel. Charles M. Ehrlich, 20, is facing numerous charges including attempted robbery, resisting arrest, DUI and  forgery.

The botched hold-up happened on May 15 at the Days Inn at 252 Bow Creek Road in East Hanover Township.

According to police reports, Ehrlich pulled out a gun and tried to rob the front desk clerk at the Days Inn. When his attempt failed–he fled the scene.

Eventually, state police  caught up with Ehrlich–but when troopers tried to pull him over Ehrlich crashed into the front porch of a home.

He was arrested and taken to Dauphin County Prison in lieu of $50,000.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 9.
