The Hanover Borough Police Department and Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a series of thefts from and possible arson to vehicles which occurred overnight in the Borough of Hanover.

At 4:17 a.m. Saturday, the police responded to a report of a vehicle fire in the 100 block of Moul Avenue. The fire, which also damaged a garage and two vehicles inside, was determined to be suspicious in nature by a Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal.

Shortly thereafter in the areas of East Walnut Street, Blossom Drive, and Spencer Drive the police department responded for reports of vehicles that were entered and money taken from within.

Further investigation led to the discovery of three additional suspicious fires within vehicles parked in the area. There are no loss estimates at this time.   The police departments were assisted on scene by the Hanover and Penn Township Fire Departments.

The investigation is continuing and anyone that may have witnessed the incidents or who may have information regarding the incidents is asked to contact the Hanover Borough Police Department at 637-5575 or through York County 911, or the Pennsylvania State Police at 428-1011.

Residents are reminded to remove all valuables from and to secure their vehicles when not in use. It is also suggested to use exterior lighting during periods of darkness to help deter criminal activity. Anyone observing suspicious persons or activity in their neighborhood should immediately call 911.
