State Correctional Institution at Camp Hill Superintendent Laurel Harry reports the death of an inmate.

On June 3, 2014, at 4:20 a.m., a corrections officer performing a routine security check on a housing unit discovered inmate Warren Pennick, age 56, unresponsive in his cell. The officer immediately called for assistance and began performing CPR until prison medical staff arrived. CPR was continued until local ambulance and EMS crews arrived and took over. The inmate was pronounced dead at 5:06 a.m.

The official cause of death will be determined by the Cumberland County Coroner’s Office. As a matter of policy, the Pennsylvania State Police is investigating the incident

Pennick, who had been at the prison since April 28, 2014, was serving a 20- to 40-year sentence for 3rd degree murder out of Montgomery County.
