Athena Orchard was just 12-years-old when she died from osteosarcoma, a common form of bone cancer. Athena’s family says she lost her battle with the terminal disease on May 28, but it wasn’t until a few days later they found her secret message. On the back of a mirror Athena wrote to inspire people that ‘The purpose of life is a life of purpose.’
The young girl seemed wise beyond her years saying “‘Love is not about who you can see spending your future with it’s about who you can’t see spending your life without.” and “Every day is special, so make the most of it. You could get a life-ending illness tomorrow so make the most of every day.”
