Harrisburg police are investigating the city’s sixth homicide this year after a deadly shooting in Hall Manor late Tuesday night. It happened just a few blocks from another homicide early Friday.

Police say someone shot Daylynn Smith, 21, in the upper torso. He was found on the ground along Hanover Street. Emergency crews took him to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Smith’s family brought balloons, flowers and candles to scene of the shooting Wednesday afternoon.

“We have been up all night investigating this shooting, and hopefully some day this week we will be bringing closure to this incident,” said Police Chief Tom Carter.

Carter did not release a detailed suspect description, but he said investigators do not believe Tuesday night’s shooting was a random incident.

Police are also investigating a shooting early Friday in the 1100 block of Hanover Street, in which Ronald McGruder was shot and killed.

“These were specific incidents targeted towards people known to each other. We are out there. We are looking at putting cameras out there, but we haven’t done that yet,” said Carter.
