Republicans and democrats in Pennsylvania are coming together for a single cause they can agree on– to raise awareness about hunger.
Legislators, anti-hunger advocates and even team mascot “Rascal” from the Harrisburg senators joined together for the official “bat grab” and draft for the 2nd Annual Capitol All-Stars Charity Softball game.
According to the PA Hunger Action Center, 1 in 5 households with children struggle with hardships in the commonwealth. Lawmakers say they hope this event inspires and educates others to fight hunger.
“The Hunger Caucus believes that once people understand that there is an issue, and people will naturally be moved to take action and it takes a small amount of action by many to actually totally solve the hunger crisis in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania,” Senator Mike Brubaker said.
The game is scheduled for September 23rd and proceeds will benefit two food bands– Feeding Pennsylvania and Hunger-Free Pennsylvania.
