Authorities in Berks County released Friday that the bodies of two women that were found last year, have been identified as the two missing Philadelphia woman who were reported missing four decades ago.
Police say the bodies of Sandra Ann Stiver, 14, and Martha Evelyn Stiver, 17, were exhumed in October 2013 from Potter’s Field in Berks County. Police said they were identified through DNA comparison from family members .
The Stivers were sister-in-laws.
Police said Sandra Stiver died in 1968 from multiple gunshot wounds. Authorities could not determine a cause of death for Martha Stiver, but they do believe she was killed around the same time as her sister police stated in a news release.
Both the women were reported missing to the Philadelphia Police Department in the summer of 1968.
