The plane, a single-engine Piper Meridian, went down near 120 Cottage Ave. just before 8:30 a.m. after taking off from the Westchester County Airport.
The sole person on board died in the crash. The plane is registered to Richard Rockefeller of Falmouth, Maine.
According to airport operations manager John Starace, the aircraft crashed after running into trees west of the runway.
According to PIX11, “Richard Rockefeller of Falmouth, Maine, was the only person on board at the time of the crash.”
