Dads, drinks, and donuts? That’s a combination that makes for a great Father’s Day!

In Dauphin County, The Vineyard and Brewery at Hershey and the Fractured Prune Doughnuts of Lancaster put dad’s tastes to the test with a pairing event in Londonderry Township.

Families got to try donuts like mocha cookie,  french toast with maple bacon and powdered sugar with different handcrafted beer and wine flavors.
“I’ve been to a lot of beer tastings and also food tastings, but never anything with a doughnut. I haven’t eaten a doughnut in a couple of years so it was kind of different to have  a doughnut and then combine it with the beer,” Christopher Fisher sad, who was a dad attending the event.

And apparently, there’s a science behind those “kind of different” tastes.

“It’s kind of interesting, on the beer side you want complimentary flavors but on the wine side you want opposites it’s what pulls the pairing together. So people seem to be enjoying both the wine and the beer side for different reasons. They get to taste the versatility of both of those,”  Vineyard & Brewery at Hershey co-owner, “Merlot Mike” Wilson, said.

Dads also got to enjoy live music with their donuts and drinks.

Organizers say the event is popular on the west coast and they wanted to bring it here through local businesses.
