Man, 29, crashes into tree while fleeing from police in Carlisle

A man was arrested Saturday after crashing his car into a tree while trying to flee from a traffic stop in Carlisle, authorities said.  Police initially tried to stop Daryl H. Gonzales, 29, of Carlisle,  for driving erratically along the 200 block of East High Street around 3:31 a.m.

Instead of pulling over–Gonzales took off and led police on a chase through Carlisle, North Middleton and Middlesex Townships. According to police reports, officers lost sight of Gonzales in the area of Route 11 and Wolfs Bridge Road as the chase reached speeds of 100 mph.

Gonzales’ vehicle was later found abandoned after he crashed into a tree in a field along the 200 block of Wolfs Bridge Road, police said.

A short time later–officers located Gonzales hiding under brush in a nearby ravine.

He was arrested and taken to Cumberland County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Gonzales is charged with fleeing and eluding, two counts of DUI,  reckless endangerment, and 16 traffic violations.
