If you’ve ever wanted to see the famous Budweiser Clydesdales, now’s your chance. The horses are visiting our area this week.
The team marched down Main Street in the Hummelstown Parade Monday night in Dauphin County.
It’s one of several appearances the horses are making in Central Pennsylvania through Sunday.
The Budweiser Clydesdales have been a symbol of quality and tradition for Anheuser-Busch since 1933.
“They’re gentle giants, they’re harmless, they’ll never harm you, they don’t bite they’re just very gentle and loving, says Ryan Zanter, Budweiser Spokesman.
A gentle temperament is very important as hitch horses meet millions of people each year at appearances across the country. The giant Draft horses are used primarily for breeding and show.
They stand at least 6′ tall at the shoulder and weigh an average of 2,000 pounds.
Horses chosen for the Budweiser Clydesdale hitch must also be at least 3-years of age, be bay in color, have four white legs, and a blaze of white on the face and a black mane and tail.
A single Clydesdale hitch horse will consume as much as 20-25 quarts of feed, 40-50 pounds of hay and 30 gallons of water per day.
Here’s the team’s schedule for the rest of the week:

Tuesday, June 17: Lancaster Barnstormers—Clipper Magazine Stadium- 5-8pm
