Turkey Hill Damage

A Cumberland County woman’s attempt to cover for her boyfriend after he drives through a Turkey Hill convenience store ends with both facing criminal charges.

It happened at about 8:43 pm Tuesday night at the Turkey Hill along the 400 block of South 3rd Street in Lemoyne.  Police responding to the incident arrived to find a blue 1992 Ford Crown Victoria with heavy front end damage parked inside the front of the store.  The store was heavily damaged.

Amy Shara, of New Cumberland, told officers that she was the driver and was parking the car when her foot slipped off the brake and onto the accelerator. The car then slammed into and through the store front. Shara also claimed that she was alone in the car and signed a written statement to that effect.

However witnesses at the scene told officers that Shara was inside the store and not in the car.  Store surveillance video confirmed their story. In actuality, Shara’s boyfriend, Jose Mulero, also of New Cumberland, drove the car into the building and then afterwards ran away on foot.

Shara was arrested at the scene for Unsworn Falsification to Authorities and False Reports to Law Enforcement Authorities.

Mulero was apprehended several hours later. He is charged with Accidents Involving Damage to Attended Vehicles or Property, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Careless Driving, and Driving with a Suspended License.
