Hundreds of people held a vigil for the York County teen killed in a car crash on Sunday.

18-year-old Joshua Hershey died on the scene after the car he was in struck a rock off Old Trail Road in Newberry Township. His twin brother, Jacob, was also in the car. He was injured but was released from York Hospital.

On Wednesday night, hundreds of friends surrounded the spot where he died, covering it with crosses, candles and mementos.

Hershey was a recent Red Land High School graduate and football player.

“On a night like this, I thought it was going to be a lot tougher but it brings a smile to my face knowing  that all these people care,” says friend Cody Vermeulen. “It just blows my mind, I was not expecting this many people but it makes me real happy.”
