A 27-year-old man was arrested after admitting that he posed as a detective and robbed a prostitute in Susquehanna Township last month after utilizing her services, police said.
Johnnie Shingler is charged with robbery, impersonating a public servant and patronizing a prostitute.
According to police reports, Shingler answered an ad on a local website on May 6 in which a woman was offering her services as a prostitute. He showed up to a hotel along the 4100 block of N. Front Street and paid $100 for sexual services, police said. Afterwards–Shingler pulled out a gun and ID card and told the woman he was a detective and wanted his $100 back, investigators said.
Police were able to track Shingler down and say he admitted to the allegations.
He was arrested and taken to Dauphin County Prison in lieu of $10,000.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 14.
