Killed my best friend

Sean Kendall got a phone call last week, any pet owner would dread. He was told that his dog had been shot and killed by a police officer while they were searching his backyard for a missing child.

The Salt Lake City Police Officer entered Kendall’s backyard to search for the 3-year-old when he encountered the 2-year-old Weimeraner, “Geist.”  Police said the officer felt threatened by the animal and fired two shots, killing the dog.

After getting the call Kendall drove home to speak to officers still outside his home. He filmed himself speaking to those officers and posted the video to Facebook.

“We entered the yard looking for a lost child. He was threatened by the dog and shot the dog. That’s as simple as it gets,” Said Sgt. Joseph Cyr.

“So I get to bury my dog because an officer couldn’t back up and close the f—ing gate,” Kendall said during the exchange. “Something’s gotta change, and I know it wasn’t you. I’m sorry but i’m f—ing pissed.”

Kendall has now created a Facebook page hoping to get Justice for Geist.
